The sun came out to say hi to you, Scarlett. You’ve been locked up inside. It missed you.
Are you suggesting I control the weather?
And it was only because I didn’t want to infect the whole school with the black plague the sun can’t just hide every time I’m not around. It has to learn some independence *giggles*
It took a second for him to process his own name. But there it remained followed by a greeting. He finally whipped his gaze around. There she stood in her dazzling, black dress. She was completely arresting, as her dress addressed the breadth of her beauty. He neared her. His steps grazing the floor, weak with each step. His mouth agape, he could not find his words. He gulped and relied on the possession within his grasp. He handed her the flowers hoping they’d help him lay down his first words. He muffled, “Scarlett…” He paused in awe.
“You look beautiful.”
He bowed his head to her and held out his arm for her to seize. “Good evening. Shall we go?” With that, they ambled towards the entrance steps of Hogwarts. “Are you hungry? I was thinking we’d try this quaint restaurant. I’ve never tried it, but I heard it was good.” He realized he was rambling slightly and decided he’d better stray from it. “I’ve arranged for a horseless carriage…” He gulped knowing that he’d been able to see the Thestrals since his first year at Hogwarts. ”…to take us there.” He shook off his despondent thoughts and helped her into the carriage. Holding her delicate hand, he resisted a breath savoring her touch.
Immediately, the carriage began its way down the powdered white path. He leaned timidly into his seat and hardly realized how close he was to her. Scarlett. She was laid with a settle, sweet perfume that made his nose tingle. But what slipped his mind was how he had managed to weave his fingers between hers with such ease. Breathe. Nothing to over think. There’s nothing wrong. They’re just… holding hands. There’s just… them. Wow. She’s here… with him.
Pascal adjusted his hat while scooting closer to Scarlett as the sky lightly dusted the earth around them.
Scarlett felt a blush crawl up her neck and cover her cheeks. “Thank you” She said softly, biting her lip and glancing at the floor to hide the red tint on her cheeks. “You don’t look too bad yourself” She said as she looked back up, smiling. She reached her hand out taking the flowers, her smile reaching all the way to her eyes. “You didn’t have to get me flowers, Pascal.” She said shaking her head slightly. The tone of her voice however, was grateful, as she was actually very pleased he had thought of her with flowers in mind.
She reached her arm out, looping it around his. “It’s a wonderful evening.” She said smirking, as they began to walk towards the exit. “Dinner sounds lovely.” She answered him, smiling. “Honestly, I’m not to worried about where we go or what we do, though. I’m just happy you asked me to come.” She glanced over at him, watching his face for a few moments as the walked towards the carriage.
Scarlett pulled herself on to the carriage seat, sitting down as Pascal got in also. She took a deep breath, feeling the cool air in her lungs and calming herself down. The butterflies were still swarming in her stomach as Pascal sat down next to her. She was always so nervous around other people, afraid she would mess something up or say something wrong. But with Pascal, she felt comfortable, something about him just made her feel calm and safe. She smiled slightly, watching the sky dim into dark oranges and blues, and leaned towards him.
I’m awake, I’m awake! How have you been?
I’ve been great lately, actually. I missed seeing you around the common room though.
How have you been?!
It’s so hard to sleep.
No, it’s barely 10pm. Must stay up.
Wake up, silly! I haven’t seen you in ages, you can’t sleep now.
Well, somebody is certainly in a good mood.
A wonderful mood, dear Jack!
It’s just such a beautiful day and everything is so wonderful. *giggles*
The heaters broke down in his room. The showers were cold and the mirror had fogged over. All his roommates were out and about, and they had all found places to stay for the night instead of the freezing cold room of theirs. Pascal didn’t have the nerve to go ask Ferris to spend the night. He hadn’t really talked to him since before his accident. He wasn’t just about to ask for a favor. Sigh. But truly, it didn’t matter how cold it was. It wouldn’t slow his heartbeat from racing one bit because… it’s Friday night. It’s tonight. Oh my Merlin, Pascal. She said, ‘yes’.
All week he had been stunned silly. Through classes, he would daydream and completely miss the teaching. He even once fell asleep, and he knew he wasn’t even tired. His mind was preoccupied, of course.
He stared at his reflection then to his hands. He didn’t know what he was doing. He had never been on a date. He only recently lost his kiss virginity. He rubs his lips with his thumb wishing he still had it. He would have rather saved it for… He straightened up and fixed his collar. Was he overdressed? The dress shirt had been sitting in a box in the back of his trunk. His father had bought it for him much too large as a back to school present years ago.
He pulled his black blazer over the pale, pastal green dress shirt. His breath fogged over his face in the mirror as he leaned in to fix his hair. You ready? He gradually filled his chest with air and his mind with hope and courage. He made his way to the common room.
He sat before the furnace holding delicate flowers. The roses’ cerise glowed by the fire. He admired the flicker of flames and fell into a daze. His cheeks blushed as he heard a gentle voice utter his name like it was being held by the soft whispers swept up by a draft.
Scarlett stood in front her mirror, her head quirked to the side. Was this good enough? She thought to herself, smoothing out the black, long sleeved dress she and put on. Too much? She looked down at the red tights peeking out from underneath the dress. She gave herself a determined look, tired of second guessing herself. She brushed her curled hair behind her ears, nodding. It may have taken her and hour and a half, but Scarlett White silently applauded herself for finally figuring out the perfect outfit to wear on her date with Pascal.
As the thought came to her mind, she smiled. A date, an actual date, with Pascal. She was so happy she had finally met someone like him, someone who made all the things that were wrong in her life seem to float away. She walked over to her bed, throwing her purse over her shoulder. She couldn’t contain her excitement as a smile spread across her face. She slipped the black and white polka dot boots next to the door onto her feet, and grabbing her coat she walked out, slowly closing the door.
She stopped for a second at the top of the stairs, pulling her sleeves up to check her watch. 5:57. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the butterflies that had appeared in her stomach. Scarlett couldn’t help but notice she always had a knack of making something go wrong, she just hoped this wasn’t the case on their date. Finally getting courage, she walked down the stairs into the common room. She saw Pascal standing in front of the fire place, and she walked forward standing behind him. Her footsteps had never been very loud, however, and he hadn’t noticed her yet. She took a few more steps forward, trying to find her voice. Delicately, she wrapped her hands together in front of her. “Pascal” She said, a smile in her voice. “Hello.”
You make my dreams come trueee~
*REALLY? He nearly blurts it out. No. Don’t. He straightens up, but he feels suddenly petrified. Stop. Now breath. The cold air makes him cough away.* Sorry. *He shakes his head hoping to rid the nerves and fears too. Then he finally realizes everything. She had said, ‘Yes’, Pascal. She actually said, ‘Yes’. His grin could not be stifled any longer. So he lets it beam as he quickly turns beside her still holding her hand.*
*With his other hand, he flicks about his wand. A démodé, vintage top hat appears above the snowman’s head. He removes his phone and sends it to hover before them. The picture snaps and the memory is there. And here. And where ever it is in his head… It will be waiting. He just hopes that Scarlett will be there with him to always remind him of this moment.*
Okay. Well, so this Friday I’ll wait for you in the common room at 6:00… and then we’ll go out. *He didn’t want to give away what they were going to do, yet.* Does that sound okay?
*He takes the top hat and whimsically places it upon his head as they walk off into the trees together.*
I’m really glad you said ‘yes’ by the way…
*Watches as Pascal as he poofs up the top hat, giggling.* He definitely looks much more classy now. Nice touch. *She sees the camera float and leans towards Pascal, smiling.*
*looks over, still smiling.* Friday sounds great. *blushes* Do I get to know what we’re doing? Or is it a surprise? *laughs, glancing down at their hands still in each others* Well, I’m really glad you asked.
